ive just heard the new puff daddy single..p.e. 2000 what an f@#king shit record...manages to destroy a public enemy tune and,for some reason, changes into planet rock(!!the idm link is here) so that puff can do a poor attempt at body popping 3/4 through the video(which looks the same as all the other current crop of dull rap vids)... i can only hope he's had to pay public enemy and kraftwerk 100percent of the royalties...

this is also know as gunderphonics i think... damn, this is a great release [mikebee] you don't mean Plunderphonics, do you? I came in late in the game but the stuff i've heard from this guy was fucking completely wicked, loads of sample/pre-recorded sound manipulation...i've got a japanese release that features one piece made entirely of metal rock riffs strung along together back-to-back creating ...sonic firecrackers, kinda...very very strange and cool...guy's name is John Oswald and 90% of his material is long out of print (and illegal to boot, i believe.)...anyone have any info about obtaining more of his work? mb

Gunderphonics was a project name used by Mark Gunderson of the Evolution Control Committee as a sort of "tribute" to John Oswald's Plunderphonics. The best stuff he did under that name were the PE/Herb Alpert mixes that have already been mentioned (out on a 7" from Eerie Materials, and originally on a self-released Gunderphonics cassette), but there are some other cool cut-up style peices on the cassette as well. I think it might include the track he contributed to the "FU2" compilation that was put out after the whole Negativland/U2 fiasco a few years back. Greg

know?: yeah, arizona is on the b-side. it also has this woman introducing herb alpert too, which is fun for messing around with, bad scratching and stuff... just going "solo wiggiggi solo" or something.. err... the uk release is on pikled egg records, it's official title is The Evolution Control Committee "The whipped cream mixes" the cat # is Egg 8 pickled egg: http://www.pickled-egg.co.uk/pickled-egg/ 19 College Ave Leicester LE2 0JF England in america it was originly released on Eerie MAterials, well taht's where the license is from. Eerie Materials POBox 420816 San francisco CA 94142 USA errie@crl.com or you could contact the band:: http://pobox.com/~ecc ecc@pobox.com whether you'd still be able to get this is beyond me. it was limited to about 500 in britian and they all sold out quite quickly i think and that was a couple of months ago.
